Live bands, DJs and films across Kep every weekend, and cinema by the sea with the Cambodia International Film Festival.
Every weekend
In the 1960s Kep was a town of music. Songs from that time are still sung across Cambodia. Art for Kep wants to bring that spirit back to the town, as a cultural tradition that belongs to everyone.
Kep Music and Film City is a non-profit programme from Art for Kep. It gives Cambodian and international musicians and young local talent a place to perform, and gives families, residents and visitors a reason to gather. Each month, concerts and film screenings move through Kep’s public spaces: the pier, Kep Beach, the Crab Market, the seafront promenade and the town’s gardens and other venues.
Art for Kep’s programmes run with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Environment of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and of the Kep Provincial Department of Culture and Fine Arts. Every event is free and open to all. The stage belongs to the town.

Film
For two years running, CIFF 360 has brought the Cambodia International Film Festival to Kep. Each edition opens with a screening in Kampot, followed by four days of Cambodian and international films, talks and workshops in Kep. Screenings take place outdoors at Art for Kep and with partner venues Knai Bang Chatt and Kep West.
From November to June, Art for Kep holds a free film screening every week on a large outdoor screen. The films are chosen to share Cambodian culture with residents and visitors, and to inspire a new generation of Cambodian filmmakers.
Musicians
Kep is building a stage for Cambodian musicians, and every musician who plays on it is paid a fair fee. Art for Kep believes artists should be valued for their work. Being thanked with “exposure” isn’t enough.
Bands, solo artists and traditional musicians are welcome to apply at any time. Our Music Programme Director selects performers each month, looking for musicians who carry Cambodian music forward, whether that means a classical pinpeat ensemble or a new song written last week.
Do you teach? Tell us. Concerts are only part of what we do. We are also building music education for young people in Kep, and we need teachers even more than we need performers. The next generation of Kep musicians will learn from you.

An Art for Kep artistic residency. Christophe Astolfi, from Italy, is a virtuoso guitarist who has performed on international stages and shared the stage with great names in jazz and gypsy music. Here he meets Enrique De Feo, an Argentine singer and guitarist, a true troubadour of the Americas who carries the culture and folklore of Latin America. Organised as part of the Art for Kep residency programme, this encounter may well be the first of a long series.
